April Studio Update + Free April Desktop Calendar

My heart has been heavy with the Ukraine war, so I painted their flag and covered it with hearts and so much love and prayer.  This on display in our home as a reminder to continue to pray and hope for this war to be over.

I have been covering everything in oil cold wax hearts lately – I love them.  Check out my instagram account for a few how to videos. I have a commission to make a large (35×48) oil heart ombre over mixed media painting.  Thus, I have been practicing with color combos – so loving this process. The inspiration comes from Artist AnneMarie Coolick.  

I finished my small sunflower, I love it, is has SO. MUCH. TEXTURE.  The process was I had left over paint on my palette that had half dried and formed skins.  I peeled those off my glass palette and stuck them all over this 5×7 board.  Then I gave it a week or so to dry further.  Then I started painting a sunflower on it.  It will take a good 6 months to dry.  

A couple of work in progress florals – To the left a large bouquet which is just about done, I need to clean up some of edges a bit. This was done in acrylic and is pretty large at 18×24. To the right I started a new sunflower painting with the leftover paint from my Chunky sunflower above.…will be fun to see how this one morphs. I am kind of liking its graphic look at the movement.
